Minnesota Mineral Club: Welcome to the Hunt!

Do you like to find rocks, minerals and fossils? If so, we have a new and fun way for you to do some collecting.

We have hidden some "rock boxes" in secret locations in the Upper Midwest, mostly Minnesota. Each box contains a mineral or fossil specimen. Clues to search for each box are posted on this blog. If you choose to take the challenge, read/print the clues and go out and find the box. Once you find the box, take the rock/fossil specimen that you find in the box and replace it with one of your extra specimens (need to be somewhat small to fit in the "rock box"). There will also be a log book in the box for you to sign and date. If you don't want to exchange speciments, just sign and date the log book. Also, take some photos, we would love to post them here!

Once you are back home from your adventure, please come back to this site and leave a comment on the post for the "rock box" that you found (or attempted to find). Let others know what you found, what you left, and what you thought about the hunt (i.e., what kind of day was it, did you like the location, did you enjoy the hunt, etc.) just don't give away the location so that others can enjoy the thrill of the hunt! Be sure to include your name in your comment so we know who found the "rock box".
